A-Level Results 2022

Congratulations to all pupils at Bedwas High School who achieved success in their A-level results today!

Given the challenging situation everyone has faced over the last two academic years I would like to congratulate each of our students who have achieved success with their A-level results at Bedwas High School. This is the first time in three years that students have sat exams, and each and every student should be praised for their hard work and resilience throughout the exam period.

It has been a demanding time for our A-level students due to the sitting of exams following the pandemic, on top of the severe disruptions to their education over the previous two academic years. Despite this, there have been some excellent performances from many students in Year 12 and 13 and across many subjects.

I would like to congratulate each of our students who have achieved success with their A-level results. Particular mention must be given to Shannon Williams, Catrin Jones, Isabel Bryant, Aiste Kavcinskiene, Scarlett Killin and Seren Ward who achieved excellent results. Similarly pleasing results were achieved by Rhys Jones, Patrick Kendall, Harry Matthews, Danny Richards, Luke Davies, Olivia Getgood, George Havard and Emily Bagstaff.

We are very proud of the way in which every student applied themselves to their studies at such a difficult time, showing great resilience and perseverance amongst many other attributes; which will hold them in good stead in the years to come.

Most important is that all students who wished to go to university have successfully secured a place, with nearly all students obtaining a place at their first choice university, or following the career path that they wished to: this is what pleases us the most. Therefore it gives us all great pride to see that the students’ hard work over their A-level courses and beyond has been recognised.

As Headteacher, I am very much aware that the last two years have been an extremely difficult and anxious time for the students, their families and the school. I firmly believe that each student’s success is the result of working in partnership with each family over a number of years. As always the commitment from all students, staff and the support of each family is greatly appreciated. Chair of Governors, Mrs Pam Scourfield, MBE, expressed her gratitude for the hard work of all that has led to some very good achievements at such a difficult time. She congratulates all of the students on their results in addition to thanking staff for their continued hard work and support which ensures Bedwas High School continues to provide a very successful Sixth Form provision.

Since March 2020 everyone has been challenged in a way that no others have experienced before, especially our sixth form students. We are very proud of all our students and this year more than any other they should consider themselves as special students, given what they have experienced. This is now the time to look forward and make the very best of the opportunities that lie ahead. We thank those students who are now leaving us for their contribution to our school and wish them well as they move on to new challenges beyond Bedwas High. We look forward to hearing of their continued success in their future careers/university courses.

GCSE Results 2022

Congratulations to all pupils receiving their GCSE Results today!

Congratulations to all our students who have achieved such success in their GCSE and vocational examinations, especially so given the challenging situation everyone has faced over the last two academic years. We have high expectations for all our pupils and it is hugely to their credit that so many students have responded so positively to the challenges they have encountered. We are very pleased that our results have improved in many performance indicators, which includes last year’s Centre Determined Grades. Our average points score for the best nine qualifications has improved substantially, while those achieving 5 or more A* and A grades is 24%. This is the first time in three years that students have sat exams, and each and every student should be praised for their hard work and resilience throughout the exam period.

Fifteen students gained at least 10 A* and A grades, each which is a wonderful achievement. Our congratulations goes to these students who were:  Cerys Bartlett, Kati Blackmore, Hannah Cattell, George Evans, Yasmin Hadid, Elicia Hall, Lauren Hoare, Polly Marshall, Carey Neale, Karmann Singh, Daisy Stevenson, Robyn Thomas, Molly Tidy, Mia Willetts, Ben Williams and Elise Williams.

In addition, Roni Bridges, Alexander Cook, Jamie Courtney-Fortney, Tahlia Edwards, Bethany Evans, Schenai Hall, Erin Hancock, Corey Leggatt, Megan McGinty, Chloe Thomas, Bobbie-Jo Toghill, Lewis Jones, Isobel Jones, Katie Wilcox and Katie Williams who all achieved a significant number of excellent grades, including many A* and A’s. We should also mention Alfie Dunphy, Shaun Lynch, Lilly Kulisa, Tyler Williams, Grace Latham, Izzy Callaghan, Seren Clarke, Sam Cox, Kesley Nisbet, Ellie Weston, Lily-Grace Ball, Lily Crane, Dylan Ward, Lucie Beechey, Callum Roberts, Cameron Matthews and Matthew Hughes amongst many others who also achieved great results. Be very proud of yourselves!

We are also very happy with the positive outcomes achieved by our students in Year 9 and 10 who have completed GCSE exams at a time when their education has been disrupted greatly by Covid-19. They now have a very firm foundation from which to start Year 10 and 11 and the confidence to know they are capable of achieving at this more challenging level.

For so many to achieve such fantastic results is a very positive reflection on the commitment of students and the excellent teaching they are receiving from staff. The support of each family is essential and as always it is very much appreciated. Mrs Pam Scourfield MBE, Chair of the Governing Body, would like to thank all pupils and staff for their effort and hard work and congratulate everyone on gaining these GCSE qualifications.

These results prove what talented pupils and dedicated staff we have at Bedwas High and we very much look forward to welcoming such well-qualified and committed pupils back to our Sixth Form on Monday 5th September.
