The ICT department teaches a range of programs across key stage 3 and 4.  At key stage 3 the program of study is on a 12 week rota, with 3 lessons per fortnight.  The department offers both GCSE ICT and Computer Science at key stage 4.

Key Stage 3 - ICT

At Key Stage 3 pupils are expected to progress through using a variety of programs. Word processing, spread sheets, databases, desk top publishing and HTML are among the programs used during the three years of Key Stage 3.  We also look at e-safety on an annual basis.

Key Stage 4 - GCSE ICT

The WJEC ICT GCSE is designed to assess a variety of ICT concepts in a practical and business way. The course is made up of 4 units, with two being in class controlled assessments and two exams. The controlled assessments are each worth 30% of the overall grade, with the exams being worth 20% each of the overall grade.  The course is split with one controlled assessment and exam in year 10, and then a similar basis in Year 11.

Key Stage 4 - Computer science

The WJEC Computer Science course is designed to assess a variety of computing concepts in a practical and theoretical way. The course is made up of 3 units, with two being exams (one on paper and one a practical assessment on the computer) and one a class controlled assessment.  The two years is taken up with a variety of activities to enhance the theoretical learning of computer science.  The main languages studied are HTML, Greenfoot and Python.
