Universities, UCAS and Next Steps
At Bedwas we aim to support students as they plan their next steps.
Choosing to go to university and which one to apply to is a very exciting and important decision for any sixth form student.
At the start of Year 12 students are allocated to a form tutor who will support the students with advice and information on any areas they would like support with. They use the platform, Unifrog, to conduct research on future pathways. For students who are thinking of applying to university, there are range of resources and links on topics such as choosing courses, writing personal statements and student finance in this section.
In the summer term of Year 12 the students are guided through the application process on the UCAS website, given advice on how to choose universities and courses, and they have a personal statement workshop.
Mrs Hudson, Head of Sixth Form, meets every student in Year 13 individually to quality assure their UCAS application and advise on suitable pathways.
Sixth Form students engage in a number of different opportunities to explore their next steps through our Guest Speaker Program.
Students are able to listen to speakers from different industries, careers, universities and backgrounds. A few examples:
- Exam Stress
